Hey fellow rebels,
I wanted to give everyone a little bit of an update! I have been SUUUPER busy these last two weeks with college. Yup, I'm a college student and with that title, comes great responsibility. This is why I'm giving you all an update.
I don't know how busy I'm really going to be yet since it's only my second week and nothing really has "started" yet. I've got tons of work, but I'm still getting the hang of things. So nothing is solid yet. What I can say is that even though I'm super busy (as I've already said) I will try to keep posting things on here. I know that I didn't post much in the past few weeks either, but hopefully that's going to change :) I was just getting a lot of pre college stuff done.
Even if I am not constantly posting things or giving updates. Feel free to come here and chat! I'm going to try to open up maybe a discussion page so you guys can write things that you feel strongly about, but for now we can always use the comment sections!
So here's some things you guys can comment:
Things that YOU feel strongly about in society and would like me write about
Opinions that you just want to let go
Works (poems, stories, etc.) that you feel need to be shared with the world in a rebellious way, after all this is O.U.R (Once Upon a Rebel), site....er...Blog!
School stuff! Since I'm back at school you can definitely put up a comment based off of school. What do you love about it? What do you hate? What do you wish would just change already??!!
From yours truly,
Paige

The Big Bad Nail Salon...
Hey guys!
So do I have a story to tell you guys. Yes, I think it's a good one even if some of you may not enjoy it. Before I start I want to say this,
I don't usually go to nail salons.
When I do go to Nail Salons, it's usually because a friend or family member wants to go and I'll grace them with my wonderful presence by going along. And if I go to the nail salon...I'm going to want to get a manicure too...sound familiar?
So onto the story!
Once upon a time...I go with my grandma to get a manicure. We decided to go to Wendy's Nail Salon! I'm thinking, Great! A manicure! I'll feel so pretty afterward and pampered and whatnot. We're immediately taken in and seated.
Now, there were comfy seats along one side of the wall with the foot water tub thing and on the other side there were the manicurist stations. For women who go to salons this is the usual set up right? And for those who don't know, then it's the usual set up.
There were two ladies in the shop, both Asian (not that it really matters). One seemed nice, but quiet. I assumed that the one I got was the one in charge though, because she was the loudest and her body language and mannerisms spoke "manager/ in charge" to me.
So My grandma went first since the quiet lady was free. She seemed to know what she was doing. So while she worked on my Grandma I told the lady "who looked in charge" that I wanted a manicure too since they didn't help me right off the bat and she was trying to help someone who came in after me. I thought, maybe they didn't know I wanted a manicure.
I asked the lady who wanted to do my nails if she could do the design from a picture. She assured me that she could with enthusiasm and another woman who was getting her nails done vouched for her also quite enthusiastically. So I said okay and waited for her to be ready.
The design I wanted was both easy and complicated. It was a white base with pink polish ombre and a sparkly gradient. On the ring finger nail, she was supposed to do a geometric triangle tree. Not to sound self absorbed or anything, but I could do this nail design and I don't have a cosmetology license. Trust me I've done really nice nail art. Maybe I'll show you all sometime. :)
SO...then she finally gets to me and honestly I think she was trying to copy the salonists on TV. She pointed to the salon chair with the nail file she was using. Pointed with the freaking nail file!
*Rolls eyes* ugh! I feel so judgy right now, but I seriously am upset about my experience. Anyways, so first she asks me what color I wanted my nails to be. I chose red. At first, she denied me red. After a good minute of arguing with her, she relented and made fun of the fact that I wanted red because of Christmas. Mind you, this really happened a week after Thanksgiving. I know I shouldn't be writing about my experience so late after it happened, but I really feel like I should write about it.
After a good fifteen minutes, she was done. Now, usually after a good nail job, an hour passes. This one took 15 min to half an hour. The end result was horrible. It was literally nothing like the picture. She didn't think that a white base with a red ombre looked good so she ended up painting my whole nail red and did a silver sparkle gradient, instead. NOT what I asked for. I know what your thinking, why didn't I stop her earlier? Well, it's because I HAD NO IDEA WHAT SHE WAS DOING! I couldn't really understand her very well and she just did whatever she wanted regardless of what I told her.
She didn't even do the tree on the ring finger nail. She just slapped the glitter on one portion of the nail and deemed it worthy enough to be called nail art.
When she smiled at me and said proudly that she was done, I was like WTF. "What are you done with??"
My nails looked AWFUL. I am not saying this to sound mean or anything, but it was the honest truth. They looked like babies painted them with toothbrushes or something. On top of that she wanted me to pay her extra for doing ombre! First off, she didn't do ombre, she just slabbed on glitter and it was ALL OVER the nail. Ombre means: Color fading from dark to light, or vice versa. That is literally the definition. There was NO color contrast.
I told her my thoughts on the design and told her nicely that she could either fix it or give me my money back. She points to the chair again and tells me that she'll fix it. So I sit in the chair while she not so gently shaves off the 'gel' nail polish. She pretty much shave off my whole nail and gave me cuts and everything.
At the very end, she tells me to pay her. I ask her why and she tells me for sitting in the chair. I patiently tell her that I shouldn't need to pay her since she messed up and told me she would fi it for free. She then tells me that I have to pay her again because that was for the last time. I told her that that isn't what we agreed on. We went back and forth for a while. Suddenly she goes over to the cash register and grabs the twenty dollars I paid with and slaps it on the counter. Then dismisses me by completely ignoring me.
The End! :)
I know , suuuuuper long story, but I just needed to let it be heard...er...read.
Alrighty then see you guys again soon!

A Very Un-Happy Birthday!
Once upon a time there was a blog...
A VERY UN-HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU...to ME! Let's all congratulate us with another cup of tea, a Very MERRY UN BIRTHDAY TO ME!
Okay Okay so that is one of the lamest beginnings ever I know. I just wanted to start my blog off with the ongoing theme or "the start of something new" lol.
So what is this blog going to be about exactly? Well, I'm going to be pretty much writing about things I feel strongly about or cool stuff that's affected me. I'll try to make it interesting for everyone by trying to make it relatable and whatnot.
Also I think that I'm going to try to post things that I like to write about whether it's short stories or make up or sports or something. Basically totally random things that may interest people.
Okay, not interesting enough? Hmmm...I guess what I'll also try to do is collaborations or takeovers or even open comment discussions or debates. For now, I'll probably be starting small since it is my first-ish blog and I'm kinda new to the whole blogging world. Eventually though, I'm hoping to do everything I'm am writing about today and taking this blog to a new level. I want to interact, but make these interactions count by maybe talking about problems or situations that other people my age or any age really are going through. Or even writing about something that can help someone or someone can connect to.
What's different from other blogs or sites?
I want to make this more personal. A more connected place where people can connect with others too. I guess kind of like a discussion board or a feed. The difference is I'll try to make this personalized by talking...er writing about things that others can feel the same about.
Uh! I think I'm starting repetitive now. That's my cue! So keep in touch and I'll be posting again soon!
